DAVE & BONNIE"S PICTURE HERE
Pleasant Acres RV Park has been at this location, as best as we can tell, since the mid-1930s. You can all imagine how large the camping rigs were in those days. We try to provide entertainment, friendship, and fun to all our patrons. We do not require anything out of the ordinary from our patrons. If the RVers want to participate in our activities, they are most welcome - however, if they just want to do their own thing, that is also most welcome. We do have some rules & regulations here in the park, but nothing out of the ordinary. We have classified our park as an Adult Park - not an Over 55 as we have some in here who are not 55 yet. Grandkids are welcome at anytime (for a few days, however). We do not allow any families in the park for any duration. We serve donuts & coffee on Tuesdays, and cook breakfast on Thursdays. The money the RVers pay for donuts and breakfasts goes to the clubhouse fund. We have Bingo on Monday nights, Karaoke on Friday nights and jams on Wednesdays at 2 PM. We have an open jam, but kinda have to limit the amount of jammers as our clubhouse is not large. There are usually card games going on every day. We have wiener roasts under the pavillion by the smoker when the weather permits. We have cookouts whenever the mood hits Sam to cook up some meats. We hope all who stay with us enjoy their visit. Most of them come back every year, so I guess we must be doing something right.
This area will be changed to info about Dave & Bonnie as soon as we can get the website transferred to Bonnie's computer.
We are Sam and Nancy (Slack) Bell originally from the Wichita, Kansas area. Sam was born & raised in the Peck, Ks area and graduated from Mulvane, Ks. highschool in 1957. I was born & raised in Wellington/Belle Plaine, ks. area and graduated from Belle Plaine, Ks. highschool in 1958. We were married in 1962 and have 3 wonderful boys, Bryan, Jerry, & Henry Joe(who also all graduated from Mulvane High School), 8 super grandchildren, and 2 sweet great-grandsons. We lived in Chico, California for a year before moving back to Kansas in 1963. We have been in the construction business, farming, real estate & auctions, restaurants around the Wichita aea. We were on the London Township Board at Peck, Ks. for several years, but, in 1989, we decided that we would like to come south during the winters when we could. We quit the Township Board in the early 90s, and ended up with a restaurant and marina on the Winfield Lake at Winfield, Ks. which we operated for 6 years, coming to LaFeria from Nov to Mar. ,then decided we would like to travel some. So we sold the restaurant in 1999 & headed on our once in a lifetime tour - 33 states in 60 days. We ended up back in laFeria in the same park we were in now. We spent a couple of summers back in the Boston Mass area working in Outdoor World RV Resort. Then, we had the opportunity to buy Pleasant Acres in 2005, and the rest is history. We've made a lot of great friends down here, some natives & some Winter Texans. The natives have welcomed us into their lives as we have them. It's a long way from Wichita, Ks., but we manage to get back home 2-3 weeks every August. One of our full-time residents, John Timmons, takes care of the park while we are gone.
Please do not hesitate to contact us at anytime if we can be of any help to you in anyway. Give us a call.
